Medical treatment options

  • Topical antifungals
    • Selenium sulfide shampoo.
    • 50% propylene glycol in water.
    • Ciclopirox olamine cream.
    • Econazole cream.
    • Clotrimazole cream.
    • ketoconazole 2% shampoo .
  • Systemic antifungals
    • Fluconazole: 100–200 mg/day for 3 weeks or 200–300 mg once weekly for 1–2 months.
    • Itraconazole: 200 mg/day for 1–3 weeks.
