Instructions
- Educate patients about signs and symptoms of skin malignancy.
- The patient with multiple actinic keratoses(AKs) requires at least annual follow-up.
- Adequate sun avoidance with sun-protective clothing and sunscreens.
- Asymptomatic patients with ‘low‐risk’ disease and few thin AKs may decide that no treatment is a reasonable option.
Medical treatment
- Diclofenac 3% in 2.5% hyaluron gel
- 5‐fluorouracil 5% cream
- 5‐fluorouracil 0.5% combined with 10% salicylic acid
- Imiquimod cream 3.75% and 5%
- Ingenol mebutate 150 μg/g and 500 μg/g gel
- Topical retinoids
- Oral retinoids
Physical treatment
- Cryotherapy.
- Photodynamic therapy.
- Curettage and cautery.
- Dermabrasion and chemical peels with trichloracetic acid.
- Non‐ablative fractional resurfacing.
